After my husband passed, I developed Atrial Fibrillation. Like so many others living with A-Fib, I saw a number of different Cardiologists and tried a multitude of medications, with little success. Six years passed, and after missing out on time with my family, and realizing the vacation time I’d always dreamed of experiencing during my “golden years” was quickly dwindling, a friend mentioned I should look into getting a cardio ablation. This is when I met one of the greatest blessings in my life, Dr. Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy, an electrophysiologist at KU Medical Center. At Mid-America Cardiology, Dr. Lakkireddy and his nursing staff were able to explain everything from basic blood clots, to blood thinners, to the effects of the medications I was using. Not only had no one ever taken the time to explain these things, but it’s rare to find such a compassionate group of people, dedicated to their jobs. Dr. Lakkireddy was able to tie off the left appendage of my heart, where the clots were forming, as well as performing a successful ablation. This procedure has given me my life back
