World AF Awareness Day is held on the second Saturday of September every year. On this day, numerous cities internationally plan events that raise awareness of AF in society and its impact on patients and their family’s medical choices and quality of life. These events include educational talks and fundraising activities to benefit public awareness materials and Investigator Initiated Research for the treatment and management of atrial fibrillation. The focus is not only on diagnostic treatment and tools, but also on alternate forms of AF management such as yoga and lifestyle changes.
World AF Awareness Day is an opportunity for participants to learn facts about AF and help make educated healthcare choices for themselves and their loved ones. Scientific advances have been made in the treatment of AF and we will continue to utilize all resources to help find a treatment plan for all patients. Despite many advances in the AF realm many people are still unaware of AF and the management options that are available.
